Artist statement
My work begins with the body, not as a symbol, but as a living site: an archive and a threshold between past and future. I am drawn to the way the body holds memory, both personal and inherited, and to our capacity to reshape what we carry forward. I work primarily with paper and clay, materials that absorb, record, resist, and transform. Through acts of cutting, piercing, tearing, stitching, and marking, I enter into a sustained relationship with the material, allowing its responses to guide the work. These gestures are not acts of violence for their own sake, but ways of searching beneath the surface and bringing what is hidden into view. My practice is rooted in embodied attention and in the possibility of transformation: of material, memory, inheritance, and what might yet be possible.
