ALEXIS BAMFORTH
Lives and works in London, UK
Artist statement
Human impact on the world has been evident in my work as far back as 1989 and championing our connection with the natural world a focus since then. Over time the work has become more informed by science and analysis of socio-economic trends but a desire to be an explorer since childhood is evident in my continual striving for unique ideas whilst at the same time challenging the modes of art itself. I've been lucky enough to work alongside some interesting characters, from China's greatest living sculptor Sui Jianguo, to the father of auto-destructive art Gustav Metzger who encouraged my own unusual methods and confirmed my belief in art for social good.
