Artist statement

My practice explores the shifting relationship between identity, perception, memory, and the body. Working primarily through Neo-Expressionist painting, I combine abstraction and figuration with saturated color, fragmented forms, and gestural mark-making to translate invisible psychological and neurological experiences into visual form. Drawing from medical imagery, memory, and lived experience, I am particularly interested in the distance between what can be observed from the outside and what it feels like to inhabit a body from within. My paintings transform this tension into psychological landscapes where figures dissolve, signals become disrupted, and organic forms move between the anatomical and the imagined. Rather than illustrating a fixed experience, I use painting as a means of investigating uncertainty, transformation, and the instability of perception. Through this process, deeply personal source material becomes a broader exploration of embodiment and the complex interior worlds we carry but cannot always make visible to others.
