ANDREA FERRERO

Lives and works in Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico

Artist statement

Andrea explores how architectures of power shape the way we imagine, understand and move through the world. With glimpses of mockery, irony, and mischief, she translates her fantasies into immersive installations, play infrastructures, and edible banquets that weave political history with story telling and personal memory. Combining techniques that range from aluminum casting to ironwork and chocolate craft, she often invites visitors to participate in intimate acts of trespass and desire, transforming structures that once demanded reverence into stages of interaction. Building on earlier investigations into fortresses, architectures of security, and imperial gardens, her most recent work traces the spatial logics of power to an intimate terrain shaped by childhood imagination and world-building, where systems of control are first encountered in miniature architectures and rehearsed through fantasy and play pretend.
