Artist statement
My work begins with stories. I am interested in the ways fiction, belief, and personal experience can alter how we understand reality, and in the systems we create to negotiate with uncertainty. Each project develops its own internal logic and determines the medium it requires. I work across moving image, installation, sculpture, sound, and writing. Research becomes a way of flirting with a subject, while fiction becomes the language through which I make sense of what I encounter. Storytelling is central to this process. I am interested in the moment when something factual becomes fictional, or when something invented begins to feel plausible. I use this ambiguity to create situations that ask the viewer to consider how stories shape what we accept as real.
