Artist statement

Andrew D. McClees is a vision based artist working in and with still photography. McClees's work uses the representational nature of photography and the space between fiction and truth to probe personal memory to create expressive images. His portfolio "Avalanche" takes square aim at investigating his childhood and childhood home, and the nature of the rituals, objects, and archetypes through people places and things. To investigate his childhood, McClees made extensive use of the view camera - a tool which allows the user to see themselves inside the visions that they create on the ground glass.
