Lives and works in Lääne-Virumaa, Estonia

Artist statement

I am an artist working primarily in watercolour. My practice moves between sustained observation of the natural world and more open, poetic forms of imagination. I work closely with plants, insects, animals, people and landscapes, often returning to the same subject over time. I am interested in change, emergence and disappearance, and in the porous boundaries between human and non-human life. Rather than treating nature as something separate from us, I use painting as a way of asking what it means to be part of the living world. My work brings together direct observation, research, poetry and mythology. At its centre is a sustained attention to the living world: looking closely, returning, and allowing what is observed to move beyond simple description.
