Artist statement

For over two decades, my artistic journey has been a profound exploration of spiritual and philosophical meaning, serving as both a quest and a testament to my personal growth. Within this voyage, I have developed a distinct visual language, with recurring symbols and icons that have crystallized into a unique expression of my inner world. More recently, my experiences as a Latin American, an immigrant, and a female artist have emerged as vital threads, weaving through the fabric of my artistic voice. My artistic style can be described as a fusion of Magic Realism and Surrealism, intertwined with the use of Automatism as a fundamental aspect of my creative process. Automatism, in particular, serves as the primary technique I embrace in my work. I am captivated by the process of accessing the depths of my unconscious mind, allowing its contents to mingle with my conscious awareness. This approach keeps me grounded in honesty and authenticity, ensuring that my art remains a true reflection of my innermost self. Art has always served as my mirror, faithfully reflecting the nuances of my being. Through the utilization of automatism, my mirror remains clear and untainted, faithfully capturing the essence of my inner dialogue. It is in this liminal space where I find solace and revelation, where the spiritual and the physical converge, and where my socio-political experiences find voice and resonance.
