Artist statement
My work investigates issues concerning women. I draw on experiences of motherhood and childhood to explore identity, memory, and loss. I work from found images of women and children, which have become increasingly heartbreaking in the last few years. In spite of often abysmal external circumstances, there are universal gestures of mutual dependence, charity, and love. These works aim to offer the viewer potentially hopeful portrayals of vulnerability and compassion.
