Lives and works in Behror, Rajasthan, India

Artist statement

My practice is experimental and constantly evolves while challenging myself to find more relevant and urgent ways of creating and thinking about the socio- political issues of the place I live in. I am trained as a painter, and now my practice engages with installation, film, photography, poetry, and site-specific intervention. Till now, I have realised that my practice is mostly about grief and anger, to address the violence inherent in extractive capitalism, hierarchical colonial knowledge structures, and oppressive regional ideologies and politics, which degraded the environment of my region Behror in Rajasthan (India). Through my work, I construct alternative perspectives and dialogues that question these dominant structures. In the future, I aim to further find ways to collaborate with other individuals and collectives to develop an egalitarian and non-extractive practice of art that can be promoted within my region for the local public, the region that has been radically transformed in the name of modernity.
