Artist statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, scent, and moving images to explore perception, liminality, and the boundaries between visible and invisible worlds. My practice is shaped by living between cultures, languages, and places. Through oil painting as my foundation, I explore how sensation becomes image: how color can feel physical, how scent can carry memory, and how perception shapes reality. The places and landscapes in my painting aren’t real. They are spaces pieced together from the cities where I’ve lived, signifying a moment of transition, a shift, a turning point that is about to happen but hasn’t happened yet. The tiny figures waiting on the threshold, neither inside nor outside, support this feeling of a suspended state. Drawing on neuroaesthetics, psychophysics, and questions of observation, I create multisensory works where painting becomes a space for dialogue between body, consciousness, and unseen systems.
