Artist statement
My work captures the fleeting moment of suspended breath, the split-second pause between inhalation and exhalation. Time as a whole is infinite, yet, a single moment slips away without a second thought. This ethereal moment is preserved and celebrated within my work. My work explores the metaphysics of matter and the disconnect of time acting on it. In my sculptural practice, I work with organic and found materials, experimenting with their properties through distortion, rearrangement, and deconstruction. I dwell on the fine line between control and uncertainty. I am a scientist fueled by the act of play. The materials become performers and my material partners in choreographing the work. Together, the matter and I invite unpredictability and exploration. I view the world through a series of questions, many of which relate to what the world would look like if time stood still. My work is experimental and dwells in the realm of entropy, transmutation, and crystallization.
