Aurelia Van der Burght
Lives and works in Veldhoven, Netherlands
Artist statement
Aurelia van der Burght / visual artist Her visual work is characterized by a social commitment. ‘I often work on location and react to spaces. I analyze such a space, looking at its history, use or current issues. In the process I let myself be led by my own experiences, emotions and interpretations. The fact that this way of working leads to different forms or solutions every time is for me comparable to the way in which life shows itself to me. Each time I am confronted with new facets of life, where the solutions are not unambiguous. I do not work in one material, but choose materials that express what I am aiming for. Change, contrast and rhythmic repetition are aspects that regularly recur in my work, which consists of sculptures, performances, installations and paintings.
