Barry Kahn

Artist statement

Barry Kahn was born in 1979, lives in Rockville Center, New York, and has Asperger Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism. Self-taught, Barry is passionate about art and has been drawing since the age of three; he began attending the Pure Vision Art studio in 2005. Working with ink on paper, he creates uniquely color saturated images that juxtapose intricate geometric shapes and patterns, with human figurative drawings. Barry says his drawings are inspired by actual dreams and nightmares. To quote Barry, “My drawings are like dreams in that sometimes they don’t make sense.” His work is included in numerous private collections in the United States and Europe.
