Artist statement

Thematically what I'm interested in lately is looking deeply into the icon of the star and its paired relationship with the mundane. I'm always looking for magic in waking life, and what it means to infuse the energy of a brushstroke into the specific realism of a photo to poke at the veil to the other side. Some images are decisive moments, others are calculated assemblies ie. still life and loose studio photography. My curiosity is in slowing these moments down to experience and magnify within painting. The pulsating star is the unseen life force energy behind all things, and all things are experienced in the present moment. These things live both separately and together, forever.
