Artist statement
I have a long experience as an artist and ceramicist, from free artistic work, design assignments and art pedagogy. I move around in the field between craft and art where ideas, technology and materiality work together. My expression is colorful and playful; a mixture of ornament and image. It is the result of a lifelong investigation of forms and rhythmic patterns with different content and background. The organic form world can also be translated into two-dimensional surfaces and three-dimensional objects, both repetitively and in solitary objects. I have carried out a number public ccommissions, where sensitivity to the place and the people there has been particularly important, such as in homes for the elderly and in residential areas. I appreciate the challenges and the framework that design assignments provide, the dialogue with the space and the people who use it. Usually I work with ceramic materials, but other materials and techniques when needed. Alongside the studio, I have worked in the field of arts and culture; with teaching, project management, communication and curating/production. They are all meaningful and enriches my own work. /Bibbi Forsman, September 2024
