Artist statement
My artistic practice explores the moment when a painting ceases to be merely an object and becomes an emotional event for the viewer. I developed Dropillism, an original painting technique in which the image is constructed from individual drops of acrylic paint applied directly to the canvas. The colors are not mixed on a palette. Each drop retains its physical autonomy, volume, light, and shadow, creating a tactile surface that changes according to the viewer’s position and the surrounding light. The drop is not a pixel or a decorative dot. It is the fundamental material and expressive unit of the painting. From a distance, the drops form an image or a visual structure; at close range, the image dissolves into a field of autonomous elements. My work moves between abstraction and figuration and investigates perception, memory, inner tension, and emotional response. I describe the philosophical dimension of this practice as Emotionalism. Dropillism answers the question: How is the painting constructed? Emotionalism asks: What happens between the painting and the viewer? For me, an artwork becomes an event only when someone begins to experience it. That experience exists neither entirely within the painting nor entirely within the viewer. It emerges in the space between them.
