Lives and works in Chicago, IL, USA

Artist statement

I have focused on mixed media assemblage and large installation works using what is often found and/or observed near my home in the Belmont Cragin area of Chicago. I then build upon multiple ideas of "passing through" using patterned mark, ephemeral materials while applying shifting surfaces to construct a body of work that often relaxes set positions and seeks to explore unknowingness as a possibility for acceptance and change. My works pin together humor, symbols in mass culture, the draw of risk, the possibility of play, with an openness for the wish of a “me + you”. I purposefully rethink assumptions about form, boundaries, and ponder over the distractions of our lives due to the constant trickery of perception. Always motivated by the idea of moving in and out of the transparent and the concrete object to encourage play and curiosity. The works and process continually are placed in a position of figuring themselves out both in structure and as a mix of materials.
