Carolina Romo
Lives and works in Chicago, IL, USA
Artist statement
Carolina Romo creates works that revolve around her experience within culture, religion, and traditions. Incorporating recycled materials from the streets of her neighborhood, her work encourages awareness about the harms of global warming, pointing out the normalization of plastic. Her work uses vivid colors, along with a variety of patterns, meant to consume the audience, to fall within its gaze. Conceptually taking a critical view of her identity and position within society, she speaks to her experiences and surroundings. Romo received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago in 2023.
