Artist statement

The fabric of the digital realm is fast evolving beyond our wildest imagination. We find ourselves inextricably interlaced with coded realities that elude individual understanding. I investigate the power of craft in our age of digitization, seeking deeper human connection with each and every stitch. Textile exploration allows me to translate emblematic binary code - prevalent in the structure of cloth as in computational script - into physical manifestations. Underlying grid structures become infested with curious critters, cable plugs, and cords. I often reference ancient alchemical elements of the universe in an attempt to grasp our new (and many) split realities. My approach is highly experimental and collaborative, entangling the digital with the physical. I work with artists from augmented reality animation to dance. From the intangible to the intensely visceral, it is thanks to these stimulating collaborations that my work can come to life across several dimensions and address questions to the core of my artistic practice.
