Artist statement

I draw insects and animals in pencil and charcoal using classical drawing techniques. The work is inspired by traditions of naturalists like Maria Sibylla Merian. I make this work to appreciate the beauty and ecological complexity of a creature while at the same time feeling the friction of living in ways that diminish its and our own existence.
