Lives and works in Berlin, Germany
Artist statement
The impulse for my creativity and the urge for its visualization is carried by my curiosity, the resulting experiences and impressions. These aspects flow consciously, but also unconsciously into my visualizations. My sculptures, installations and paintings combine an interest in quantum mechanics and metaphysics as well as research into folk medicine, ancient symbols and alternative healing practices. In doing so, I explore the question of „existence“ and „being-in-the-world“ - focusing on the fraught relationship between reality and obscurity. The texture of surfaces is an integral part of my artwork. Surfaces are the connection between the inside and the outside. When viewing a work, it should be possible to immerse oneself into the surface - in a pictorial sphere that does not appear sealed, but rather as a space that is transparent to the viewer. All of this is rooted in an overarching idea - the visualization of a perception that seeks to give shape to the immaterial. This search extends through metaphysical phenomena to the concrete formations of the material and its characteristics shaped by time. It is not only in the works themselves that I aim to grasp what lies behind the natural world in order to explain being - I also connect to this realm within the creative process.
