Artist statement
My work is primarily focused on painting; heavily supported by a drawing and print practice. I like to take definative subject matter or iconic themes and remake them, reworking them over and over till the subject matter takes on a different life. I have been described as an iconaclast and I agree that I try and break down iconic themes and subject matter into new concentrated forms. I believe the asthetic quality of the paint is incredibly important, but only as a medium to the uncontrived, the unpredictable image and a seductive asthetic. The final art work / painting being born out of its self and it should suprise myself; appear from nowhere.
