Artist statement
Survival and destruction, resilience and resistance are significant themes within Trutiak’s practice. Trutiak creates grotesque yet fragile interpretations of the uncanny. She creates psycho-spatial environments consisting of slightly skewed hyper-realistic images. Body parts, sounds, landscapes and objects feed her unusual assortment of counter-repressive gestures that revolve around permutations of psychic and social repressions.
