Jason Chung Yin Lam
Lives and works in Hong Kong
Artist statement
Jason Lam, a Hong Kong-based artist, earned a master's degree in fine art from the University of the Arts London. Upon returning to his hometown, the focus of his art practices shifted to society and politics. He believes that the value of contemporary art must reflect what is happening now. In the early stages of his Hong Kong-based art practice, local political conflicts became Jason's primary focus. He explored and applied coarseness and ambiguity as the main visual language in his works during this period. Recently, his concerns have broadened to include global conflicts, violence, and social issues. He developed a unique colorblind-inspired palette as his visual language to convey his perspective on human nature and the essence of worldwide events.
