Artist statement
My works deal directly with the physical reactions of the human body to emotions embedded in memory and experience. Human responses to mental stimuli are often so innate, they can occur without our realization. This series works to highlight the interactions between the mental and physical realms. The positive and negative spaces of the artist’s physique are often the source for sizing and installation. Domestic architecture informs the materiality, providing a metaphor for the construction of the figure. Surface and color palette are left unaltered, referencing the rawness, strength and delicacy of human emotion and it’s physiological effect.
