Lives and works in Odawara, Kanagawa, Japan
Artist statement
This work comes from the desire for absolute perceptual clarity, a way of seeing the world as essence, not form, by the process of becoming the witness of phenomena—continuous, timeless, via stillness. It’s a spiritual and aesthetic practice that invites, and doesn't seek attention. The brief moment in which the work is first perceived is of pure awareness. That brief moment is the point of making the work. The work requires absolute attention—continuous no-mind. Meditation has a similar purpose. These works are what this state of mind looks like, made visible.
