Lives and works in New Haven, CT
Artist statement
My practice focuses on the appropriation and assemblage of industrial materials and ready-mades objects. I intervene in mass produced objects to test the tension between protection and danger, uniformity and the minute deviations that remain inside a standard. Drawing from everyday conditions, the work treats formatting, reinstatement, and spatial constraint as both process and metaphor. Sculptures and installations ask the body to negotiate systems that already govern the materials themselves, and to find, in the ordinary, an unexpected poetic and political charge.
