Lives and works in Denver, CO
Artist statement
I am interested in the lives of forms. I begin with forms that have already moved through time—from historical artifacts and monuments to the material culture of everyday life—and carry them into new materials, scales, functions, and contexts. Each work develops through a dialogue with its materials. Across wood, bronze, and clay, I use the properties and histories of materials to translate and reconstruct forms. The studio becomes a place where making contributes to their ongoing lives. My sculptures carry forms into new relations where multiple histories, associations, and uses can coexist. The work asks not what forms mean, but how their meanings continue to change.
