Lives and works in Jakarta, Indonesia
Artist statement
Doppy Catur Prasetya (b. 1988) is an Indonesian artist working primarily in painting, mixed media, installation, and digital media. He graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta with a degree in Advertising. He received scholarships to attend Creative Academy programs in Cannes and Singapore. For almost ten years, he worked in the creative industry. During the 2020 pandemic, he began his artistic career. He started by making geometric paintings, which gradually evolved into abstract geometry. This became the foundation for the Diamond Eyes character and a visual signature that continues to shape his practice. His works have been exhibited in Indonesia and internationally, including Reberation by The Holy Art in the UK; Affordable Art Fair in Singapore and Hong Kong; Art Jakarta; Art Moments; and Art Garden, Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design / ICAD by The Bay. He was also selected for the Studio 88 Residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand, but was unable to participate due to scheduling and funding constraints His practice explores how lived experiences transform the meanings we ascribe to people, places, symbols, rituals, and everyday life. He is particularly interested in how these meanings shape identity, belonging, memory, and cultural understanding. Most of his projects translate invisible experiences into artistic form.
