Artist statement
I try to tell stories using a animated, cartoonish, fairy tale, theatrical language through my sculptures that I make using wooden materials. I express some MINI but tragically funny aspects of life that affect us deeply. These stories have some titles; Searching for the Ideal in our heads and not finding it. Knowing that we will never reach that perfection... "What should I possibly have to tell you, oh venerable one? Perhaps that you're searching far too much? That in all that searching, you don't find the time for finding?" Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse That's why the characters I create either want to take their suitcases and leave or stand still and wait. I put an innocent but confused expression on the faces of my four-fingered sculptures because they don't belong to the world. The world seems strange to them because... Their vibrant colors show that they always have hope...
