Lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, USA
Artist statement
My work moves between painting, textiles, ceramics, and film to create immersive, tactile environments that function as cyclical processes—one medium leading into the next—so that no work exists in isolation. A painting might become a textile, the textile placed within a landscape, ceramics mimicking its textures, and these material explorations informing a new series of paintings. This recursive process allows me to build nonlinear timelines, where past, present, and imagined futures blur together. In my practice, the landscape is both collaborator and subject. I begin by abstracting environments into painted terrains that carry the textures, colors, and atmospheres of memory. These paintings often transform into textiles—dyed, stitched, and reconstructed—before returning to the environments that inspired them. In situ, these works interact with the elements, shifting with light, wind, and weather. Rather than treating the landscape as a fixed subject, I approach it as an active force that continually alters and reshapes the work. Cutting apart and reassembling painted and dyed materials becomes a way of tracing change—mirroring the geological, ecological, and emotional shifts that define a landscape’s history. This process embraces impermanence and transformation, acknowledging that no place is fixed, and every mark we make becomes part of a longer environmental narrative.
