Lives and works in Topanga, CA
Artist statement
It’s all about the color and texture of the paint. I’m an abstract symbolist who works with color, texture, shape and storytelling imagery to convey my wonder and appreciation for this earthly experience we call life. I want to excite the sensibilities, to engulf, saturate. I have many messages but, mostly, my work invites others to address and confront the power of simple beauty, the incunabula, the unknown, rites of passages, epiphanies, rebirth. Transformation is a constant in life and essential to our evolution. Each step we take is sacred and decides the journey. Every breath requires a new commitment to courage. My paintings examine the personas, the bodies, the heavens, dark and mysterious corners, the stopping places and launching pads of the soul. I’m deeply affected by the style of the original artists, the cave painters. Scientists opine they were women. Fascination for the time space continuum elicits my awe. These days my studio lives in the crossfire of science, art and personal healing. Diagrams, scientific and/or ancient drawings and the photos coming in from the James Webb space camera guide my work.
