Artist statement
Felix Delandre is a French-Greek contemporary artist known for his abstract, conceptual, and minimalist paintings that often incorporate playful use of shapes, colours, words, and gestural marks. Born in Paris in 1987, Delandre currently lives and works in London, UK. He holds a Licence in Arts Plastiques from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2010) and a Master of Fine Art from the Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (2011). Delandre's artistic practice is characterised by experimentation and an emphasis on process. He frequently paints on loose paper or canvas offcuts, alternating between word riddles, scribbles and abstraction. His works often explore the visual arrangement of words and letters, creating compositions that encourage viewers to engage with the work as visual riddles or puzzles. The paintings are noted for their direct gestural confidence, intuitive motions, and a combination of playful irreverence with deeper, sometimes ambiguous undertones. He has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows across Europe, including venues in Greece, the UK, France, and Russia. Notable exhibitions include "Lexico" at Achillopouleio in Tsagarada, Greece (2024), "Recent Works" at e5 in London (2023), and participation in group shows such as "Initiating the Riddle" at the Giorgio de Chirico Art Centre in Volos, Greece (2023). In addition to his own practice, Delandre has worked as a studio assistant for various artists in New York and has led art...
