Artist statement

Artist Statement My work explores the instability of contemporary experience through a dialogue between figuration, abstraction and philosophical thought. I am interested in moments when identity, memory and reality cease to appear fixed and instead become fragmented, contradictory or provisional. Philosophy is not an illustration in my paintings, but a structural presence. Ideas drawn from thinkers such as Plato, Heraclitus, Leibniz or Bauman become starting points for visual situations in which bodies, architectural spaces and symbolic elements are subjected to tension, transformation and displacement. I work primarily with acrylic and oil, often building the surface through successive layers, transparencies, impasto, abrasion and visible traces of the painting process. Figures may emerge clearly in one area and dissolve into gesture or matter in another. I use this instability to question the distinction between presence and absence, order and chaos, memory and sensation. Rather than offering a single interpretation, I want each painting to remain open: a space where philosophical ideas are experienced physically through color, texture, fragmentation and the human figure. My aim is to create images that operate simultaneously as visual experiences and as unresolved questions.
