Lives and works in London, UK
Artist statement
Inspired by the disciplines of architecture, design and craft, I am a printmaker working from my studio in SE London. My work explores the tipping point between comprehension and misunderstanding, the gap between fact and fiction. I am interested in how our physical reality can co-exist with our imagination, playing with notions of what is 'real' UN-FAMILIAR questions the value we place on our surroundings. Interested in the link between materials and meaning, I reimagine fragments from daily life. Through a process of embellishment, I am building a fictitious collection of curious objects that look as much like a box of chocolates as they do a reminder of the absolute natural beauty of our ordinary lives. With the growing reality of climate change these pieces feel more poignant than ever, showcasing the brilliance of these simplest of organic forms. MONUMENTS is a tribute to the art of making. The work reconfigures the remnants from the cutting room floor and turns them into something more permanent, encouraging the viewer to reconsider what they are looking at. This series of work is tribute to all those who have tried to turn a scrap of material into something new.
