Georgianna Krieger

Lives and works in Oakland, CA, USA

Artist statement

Georgianna Krieger is an Oakland, California–based artist whose practice spans cast glass, bronze, cement, and ceramic. Guided by the belief that concept dictates material, she creates without boundaries, exploring universal truths through sculpture. She earned a B.F.A. in Sculpture from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she also studied music, a discipline she continues to pursue alongside her studio work. Active in the Bay Area art community, she has exhibited widely, including as featured sculptor in the Joyce Gordon Gallery’s Exit From Anonymous, as a long-time member of Berkeley’s 4th Street Fine Art cooperative, and in juried exhibitions such as The Museum Of Northern California Art’s Don’t Kill the Messenger (2025) the Blue Line Art Center’s Off Center shows (2024–25) and the Orinda Public Library’s Stories We Tell (2024). Krieger’s work has also been featured nationally, with her large-scale bronze Turn Around traveling on loan to cities in Missouri, Indiana, and Colorado. She has received recognitions including a Silver Medal Award from the Whelan Gallery for her cast glass sculpture Light and third prize in The Art of Movement exhibit at the Studio Channel Islands Art Center. Her newest body of work, the ceramic series Sentinels, reflects on our precarious moment in history: envisioned as watchful souls of the earth, the sculptures serve as both guardians and warnings as humanity enters a new and uncertain epoch.
