Artist statement
I was borN in Mexico City, and I currently live and work between Washington, D.C., and my hometown. In my artistic practice I explore the dynamics of control and power. My intention is to encourage reflection on social and environmental justice from a biocentric perspective. Depending on the idea I develop, I work with painting, sculpture, or installation. I use expressive abstraction as a means to foster an open and sensitive interpretation, drawing on the symbolic resonance of color, texture, material, and scale, as well as the tensions generated by their juxtaposition.
