Artist statement

How would our consciousness shift if we re-membered ourselves as belonging to Earth? As a filmmaker and image artist, I observe the interconnectedness of humans with more-than-human worlds exploring place-based indigenous values and rituals as an invitation to meditation, awe, and richer relationships. Inspired by my Chamoru heritage and cultivated in a relationship with Earth's magic, my films and digital storytelling attempt to reflect the animacy and intimacy available in the ecosystems we live within and seeks to remember humanity as elements of a living earth. I practice slow media using a poetic perspective that asks us to reconsider the purpose of hyper-consumption and, instead, rediscover a satiety among the ecological systems we belong to.
