Artist statement
My works are driven by duality and the desire to blend two worlds into one. They flow from one place to another without a direct “straight” line but more with an organic “go with the flow” state of mind. I use color and texture to express a feeling, an emotion or to relate to an environment. My work is transformative, textural, and sculptural, sometimes minimal and sometimes chaotic, always trying to incorporate elements from my past and future. Mixing found objects and high-end products. As a Mexican-born artist now living in the U.S.,I am constantly battling with living between two worlds, and this is an inspiration for my work. I am in a constant push and pull between worlds that demand very different things from me as an individual—the romantic vs. the pragmatic. My works also battle and combine the worlds of fine art and street art. My work also aims to explore themes of material, form and the transformation of a shape and its infinity of variations, how many times can a shape be modified, disrupted or reduced to a minimum. My use of materials is inspired by architecture and the desire to connect nature with the industrialization of the world.
