G. Romero
Lives and works in Brooklyn
Artist statement
G.Romero is a working artist, curator, and educator for over 15 years in New York City. I'm an atypical storyteller. My practice includes drawings, paintings, works on paper, installation, motion and sound. Storytelling, narrative and graphic image making are at the core of my work. Every piece I make is always based upon a narrative whether it be linear or more abstract. Stories are essential to our lives as they influence our behaviors, emotions and our culture. I engage with these forms of narrative to investigate how stories help to shape and mold the world outside and inside of us. As an installation artist, I create participatory sensory works. Participatory works help to engross an audience on multiple levels, this way viewers can be immersed in a conceptual situation. My influences lie in movements of great expression and experimentation like the Symbolist, Dada & Fluxus.
