Artist statement

Guido Corbisiero (b. 1996, Napoli, Italy). In his artistic practice he uses different media combined with (self-)written notes to expose and examine the complex world of dichotomies and self-representation. His research focuses on adding cultural depth and authenticy to artworks and various form of expression through unconventional storytelling and motions of approval. Studying digital culture, internet imagery and the underworld of visual identity and contemporary contradiction, the artist attempt to give personal meaning to the lines between art and its perceived value. Honesty is a keyword in his creative process, as focusing on his experiences and suburb background, his works somehow turns out to be forever reborn into a new aesthetic and personal sense given in the instant. His research, because of this, can never be entirely detached from its source located in the nowhere of the wasteland of Napoli.
