ERROR AND IGNORANCE ARTIST STATEMENT In this series, Hakan Sarı aims to create a synthetic clone of the photographic memory of the visual journey he has gone through in the last ten years. He is reproducing this clone thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning. In this way, he re-perceives the past, his photographic memory and its manifestations with a view from his present moment. He describes this process as a journey between algorithm – photography - memory, an introspection experience and a retrospective flow. Photography, by its nature, can both individually remember and also revoke realities to people. Thus, it can show us that a dimension invisible to the naked eye can actually exist in photographs. This invisible layer, which emerges from the intersection of photographs and the photographer's memory, is created by an algorithm that was unaware of factors such as emotions, thoughts and objectivity of the works while they were being designed. The resulting ignorance of the algorithm due to these shortcomings, leads to the distortion of the reality of the photographs creating a new dimension, meaning, and memory. Artificial intelligence is not the study of computers but rather the study of the mind in actions and thoughts. The errors caused by the ignorance of the algorithm in this research are actually the depiction of the incomplete human mind. In this context, since the situations defined as errors and ignorance also contain the photographer's view of...
