Artist statement
My work, called Electroctopus, is about the creation of an imaginary that discusses the challenges of the digital era based on pieces built with different materials and techniques. My objects of study are the issues of current paradigms such as the environment, human hacking, the algorithm society, the increase in isolation and somatic diseases, the destruction of non-digitized peoples and, mainly, the change in the human psyche which is in the process of cyborgization. It doesn't take a computer chip in your brain for you turn into a cyborg. The opposition between synthetic and organic does not exist. You become a cyborg not because you have a bionic arm, but because you think and exist as one. The homo sapiens entity biodigitalizes itself and emerges as electroctopus: the human-mammal that wants to become an electric-mollusk.
