Artist statement
Painting is primarily used to further the discussion about care, specifically exploring the space that isn’t performative but rather repetitive, mundane, and habitual. Highlighting the rituals we practice daily and are unnoticed over time. Through delayed recognition, the past begins to reorganize itself and what once appeared unified, becomes fragmented. The insignificance shifts, making us realize the fragility of the so-called “concrete” structures we call our “foundation”. Using the medium as a language model, referencing historical context, and how our relationship with bodies has evolved over time, it aids and dictates my visual storytelling.
