Artist Statement My practice is centered on the development of two distinct yet interconnected painting languages: Neo-Color Ink Painting and Marker Painting. Rather than treating them as extensions of existing techniques, I approach each as an independent system of pictorial construction, with its own material logic, spatial structure, and chromatic grammar. In Neo-Color Ink Painting, I work with Xuan paper, ink, mineral pigments, water-based color, and water itself as active structural elements. I am interested in how color and ink can coexist as equal forces rather than one functioning as an accessory to the other. Through diffusion, staining, layering, accumulation, and controlled accident, I construct spaces that emerge through tonal transition and atmospheric density rather than conventional perspective. Central to this practice is what I describe as a “gray field”: a transitional zone in which color, ink, light, and atmosphere continuously shift into one another. Marker Painting develops from a contrasting material logic. Here, fluidity gives way to accumulation. Repeated lines, layered marks, chromatic density, and rhythmic surfaces allow the marker to function not simply as a drawing tool, but as a primary painting medium with its own autonomous visual language. I use this process to reorganize natural forms—trees, mountains, water, coastlines, fields—until they move between recognition and abstraction. Although the two practices differ materially, they are...
