Lives and works in New York, NY

Artist statement

My work is decidedly un-ending—remaining ongoing, even if untouched for long swathes of time. Making is a process to be endured, and let to change slowly over time, rather than resolved. Remo Guidieri proposed that humans didn't make images in caves out of a desire for expression; rather, humans developed the capacity for expression after the act of making had begun—that recognition itself spurred evolution. I want to get rid of appearance, to make before recognition. As all of my work from 2024-onwards follows the same title, the mass of making is conjoined, allowing for the slowest unfolding which blurs all distinction between objects. With breath you lose the ability to separate the various days you were doing various things, they all slip together. Destroy parameters and have them all at once. Nothing will be different from anything else. The bare minimum it takes to represent the body is simply that it must never complete itself. I want to get rid of appearance. I want to make it more possible for self and outside to lose distinction, for you and me to lose distinction, for this and that to lose distinction, for object and living to lose distinction. Everything meets its opposition as counterpart: "we are all unfinished", they might say to one another.
