Lives and works in Leiden, Netherlands
Artist statement
My practice is centred around my desire to see contemporary art have a tangible effect on the external world. Contemporary art pushes the boundaries of acceptable ideas, reproducing ideas that in turn changes culture and then go on to have a political and social effect. I think it's the job of contemporary artists to build structures, languages and rituals as to provide a way for people to confront new challenges and to build new realities. I want my work to be a mirror to the violence of so called ‘ordinary life’ and the covert ideology of the art world. This is intrinsic to the way that the work is made, I always take an interdisciplinary approach to my work, incorporating painting and installation with performance, this allows me to see my practice as a series of fluid actions where no paintings or objects are capable of being marketized or separated from the context I have intended for them.
