Artist statement
Artist’s Statement - January, 2019 At a basic level, we perceive our world by moving through it, continuously receiving information from the shifting relationships between THINGS. We form our reality kinetically in collaboration with the world. Pattern and repetition cause habits to form that distance us from this direct encounter. In my studio practice I examine and adjust the many knots tied up between place and reference, on the one hand, and material languages of form and structure on the other, to make art that infiltrates and interrupts these habits, forcing us to re-gauge our relationship to the physical world around us.
