Artist statement

I am drawn to boundaries, remnants, and where things collect. My work negotiates fragmented forms ranging from sculpture, mixed media paintings, and installations that visualize tectonic instability. These fragments highlight the presence of touch as they echo a fraught interior landscape, a different kind of shifting ground. Much of my recent 2D work derives from documentation of the changing surface of a summer playa that I experienced on a residency. I incorporate unexpected colors and elements of the built environment, combining the release of surface tension with a constructed mapping of space. These disruptions could imply tectonic instability, or nudge at a faceted idea about the nature of time. These images challenge the stability of memory, always on the threshold of change.
